Exchange includes a camper van AND cabin! This is a basic campervan with a bed in the back, a food cooler, lights and a fan. It is quite unique, however, because the roof is fully covered in solar panels, which not only provide 12 volt DC power for the RV battery, but with the inverter also 110 volt AC power for any regular household appliances you wish to use. There is a fan for keeping you cool plus interior lights. This van is quite old but is as reliable as the sun. The unique part of our exchange offer is that this van is offered in combination with a very cozy little cabin hideaway on a secluded forested acre of land on the gorgeous island of Hawaii (also known as the Big Island). So you can sleep in the cabin at night and use the campervan to explore the island during the day, or sleep 'on the road' as you please.
Présentation du propriétaire:
Hello, We are Doug and Theresa and we're getting married soon and looking for an RV exchange for a special holiday vacation. We are a middle aged couple and both education professionals (Doug is a retired private school principal and Theresa is a college professor) with a keen interest in other cultures and history. We would love to visit some of the historical sights in Europe on our honeymoon in the summer of 2010. We have to offer a very unique and exciting little cabin and camper van combination on the Big Island of Hawaii - truly one of the most gorgeous places on earth!
Description de son beau coin de pays:
There is a reason why the Big Island of Hawaii (the biggest of the seven main islands that make up the state of Hawaii) is known as paradise on earth. This is the last of the 'real' Hawaii and our cabin and camper van are located in the wildest and most gorgeous part of the Hawaiian jungle, in the area known as Kapoho, about 2.5 miles from the ocean on the south east tip of the island. Kapoho is famous for its vacation attractions and is known for having "the freshest air on earth". Its true. You can tell the difference the moment you breathe it in. Although we live near the 'touristy' part of Kapoho, our cabin is not located in the expensive vacation rental home zone just a mile away. Those large homes rent for $1500 to $2500 USD a week and dont normally include a vehicle rental (rental cars are often hard to find on this island). Our cabin is much smaller and minimalist but you still get to enjoy the same great attractions and natural wonders that make the Big Island and Kapoho so sought after for vacation rentals. Where else on earth can you drive only 15 minutes to see a live volcano spewing flaming red molten lava into the sea and creating a steam column that goes for miles? Where else can you soak in a naturally heated hot pond that is warmed by the volcano below? Where can you walk through a lava tube where molten lava once flowed? Where can you swim right beside live sea turtles in the wild or watch Spinner dolphins twirl in the air? Dive with manta rays? Dance on a black sand beach? What other place on earth invites you to go surfing the wild sea, and then drive a few miles straight up the mountain to go snowboarding? (in season) Where can you see world class observatories in the clearest most unpolluted sky on earth? Where can you drive into ancient jungle and see the most amazing tropical scenery but still visit a five star restaurant for supper that night? THE BIG ISLAND of HAWAII,that's where! I cant say enough good things about the Big Island but one thing you should know is that our cabin and camper van and this type of exchange will appeal to those who appreciate a very simple lifestyle without a lot of amenities. Our cabin is very cute and cozy but it is small and it is 'off grid', that is, power is provided by solar panels and non-drinking water is provided by rain catchment. Toilet facilities are in a little outhouse (that does have a regular flush toilet inside). The shower has propane heated hot water, and as long as there is no drought, you can shower as long as you wish. However, if there happens to be weeks without rain you may need to use water conservatively or go into the closest town to haul your own water back (this rarely happens). If you are looking for a DIFFERENT kind of holiday from your normal fare, and you have always been curious about living off grid, in one of the most beautiful places on earth, this type of exchange will appeal greatly to you. In fact, the cabin is not much different than the RV lifestyle, so dont blame me if you decide you want to hang up your keys and move to Hawaii permanently *grin*
